Ugly Pizza / Huxley's Sports Bar - Now Open

32 Banksia Rd, Caringbah NSW

One of our latest projects is located in Caringbah and has recently opened!

Ugly Pizza and Huxley’s Sports Bar have taken over the former Bizzo’s location. Our brief was simple; create a comfortable venue where families can relax and enjoy good food. We were inspired by our recent trips to America with our clients, and we wanted to bring what we saw and tasted abroad back to the Shire.

Ugly Pizza’s design is a twist on the classic American diner. Zinc top bars, black and white tiles and generous areas of warm timber floor and wall panelling soften the exposed services above. We punched a big hole to the north so it’s light and bright.

You can choose to take-away, or sit in front of the hand tossed doughs, salivating at the sight of pizzas being paddled out of the large metal oven. Timber windows look out onto the street and additional tables and seats under the new red and white awnings are coming soon.

Once you’ve had your fill of pizza, walk through the secret fridge door into the speak-easy sports bar – Huxley’s. There’s more room to lounge around in here. To the left there are big plush round booths with green chesterfield studded-leather detailing and to the right we have the black timber bar. A series of red top timber tables that look like classic pool tables are scattered through the spine of the venue. Everything is dark and cosily lit, so you can sit, relax and watch the games. If you are still hungry, you can order from the American diner inspired menu - crinkle-cut fries, hot wings and mac n’ cheese, and they even bring it out in those little red baskets.

Ugly Pizza and Huxley’s is just a small part of our client’s vision to turn the whole building into a buzzing entertainment hub. Currently, we are working with them to revitalise the vacant upstairs venues.

We are really happy to contribute to the trending foodie scene in the Shire, and excited about the next stage of the development! Stay tuned!

Gerrale Street Kitchen - Now Open

19-21 Gerrale Street, Cronulla, NSW

We are very pleased to present the recently completed Gerrale St Kitchen.

Within a new residential development one block back from Cronulla Beach, the new ground level restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, serving sophisticated, contemporary Australian food.

Drawing inspiration from early modernist and mid-century Modern architecture, the fit-out is clean and stripped back with monolithic surfaces, subtle curves and circular light fittings. The material palette is fresh, limited to warm whites and blonde timbers, with aged brass and black steel detailing.

An open kitchen runs the length of the venue with a large suspended steel framed shelving unit dividing the cook-line from the front counter. Stools line the perimeter of the kitchen to create a casual dining experience with views through to the Charcuterie and oyster display.

Reflecting the shared plate menu, furniture within the venue is designed to be intimate and homely with a large communal table and loose, sofa-like leather & oak banquettes throughout.

Gerrale St Kitchen is a welcome addition to an already developing Cronulla dining scene, and we wish the Feros Group all the best with the new venture.

The Mill House Bar - Now Open

Basement Level, 277-279 Flinders Lane, Melbourne

We're delighted to be involved in Melbourne's newest and coolest underground bar, the Mill House.

Situated in the basement level of the c1850's Tomasetti Building on Melbourne's effervescent Flinders Lane, this new venue offers up beats, bites, and two bars!

We wish the Millet Group all the best with this new venture, and we're sure it will be a roaring success.

Grand Duk - Now Open

Grosvenor Place Forecourt, 225 George Street, Sydney NSW

Grand Duk is a contemporary restaurant housed in the ground level forecourt of the iconic Grosvenor Place office building in Sydney’s CBD.The restaurant honours it’s sharp context, with a 125m² design that speaks to the existing Harry Seidler building. In a space that offers no existing front of house walls, H&E Architects have used a mixture of high and low dining options, communal tables, leather booths and dry bars, to construct a sense of intimacy.

The material palette is subtle, with aged brass, leather and black stained hand scrapped timber. The varying textures allow for increased warmth and definition in the space which is made from predominantly glass and grey stone. Drawing on some of the detailing of the tower, green onyx tabletops have been selected, giving a more specific and unique palette to the tenancy.

Working in close consultation with Harry Seidler & Associates, the final design for Grand Duk is understated and mature. It caters to a frenetic daytime customer with an open plan kitchen and an 11m long service counter. Partly open booths and banquettes and a spine-like wine display has been developed to maintain sight lines to the exterior walls and yet create a new sense of intimacy for patrons. These simple architectural devices give the restaurant a translucent and opaque rim, which establishes zones of transition between the exterior and interior zones.

Grand Duk is the recently established new partner of the Naked Duck, a restaurant that has found great success on Castlereagh Street, Sydney. The restaurant will offer lunch and breakfast, with a differentiated dinner service commencing from February 2016.

The Bellevue Hotel - Now Open

159 Hargrave Street, Paddington NSW

After seven months of extensive renovations, the charming c1880 Bellevue Hotel is back with a stylish new look.

Regulars can expect something surprisingly different of the Eastern Suburbs favourite, with the ground floor now flowing seamlessly from bar to dining. The public bar is still the perfect place for a casual bite or drink with a group of pals, and the dining space has doubled in size, to include seating for 70, and has an eye-catching oyster and caviar bar.

Of course, we wish the WDS Hotel Group all the very best with the new look venue, and we look forward to popping in for dinner soon.

Sarita's at The Rocksia Hotel - Now Open

299-307 Princes Hwy, Arncliffe NSW

The main bar at the popular Rocksia Hotel at Arncliffe has undergone a transformation. Introducing Sarita's, a new destination bar & restaurant in Sydney's southern suburbs.

Inspired by Californian diner Gjelina's, this warm and inviting venue is the type of place where you can have a couple of drinks and a light bite at the bar, or spend an entire evening at a table with friends and family.

We wish the Feros Group every success with the new venue, and we're sure the Rocksia Hotel will now become more popular than ever.

China Diner - Now Open

We're delighted to be involved in the latest installment of the China Doll series of restaurants in Sydney, Bondi's China Diner!

Situated in the refurbished Boheme development on Hall street, this 200 seat restaurant runs the full  depth of the building. The space provides a more casual bar and dining experience at the front of house, or a slightly more formal option in the rear dining room. Take your pick. In any case, the food and beverage offer is sure to impress.

Rushcutters - Now Open

The Keystone Group recently invited us to transform the former Nield Avenue restaurant into a new multi-offer hospitality venue. This gorgeous old tyre factory has a lot of rustic charm, which we embraced and expanded upon, while adding the comforts that all good hospitality venues need.

The venue now includes an all-day cafe/deli, a public bar serving refreshments from lunchtime, and a gourmet restaurant for those wanting a more indulgent experience... something for everyone.

We'd like to wish the Keystone Group every success with this bold new venture, and we eagerly await our first dining experience!
